Yep. We saw this when obamacare was first rolled out. Many quit their shitty jobs and became self employed.
I work with people that are already retired and pulling passive income. A good portion are only working for medical insurance. If these people were to get a job elsewhere or just re-retire since they don’t need insurance anymore then younger people working under them can get promoted. Then the really young people could get hired and trained up.
Because how the system is set up, even if you have enough money to live without working, you would still need a job to cover insurance.
This is a big reason why we left the country. I make a comfortable but not extravagant living as a freelancer, but sinking $1000+ a month just into insurance for my family? (To say nothing of costs and copays while actually using the insurance!) Just doesn’t make any financial sense. Had we stayed in the states one of us would need to work for the man just to have a reasonable health care plan.
The cost savings on that alone pays my whole mortgage here in the EU.
Yep, OP finds out about Control, Control the wages, control the health, control the holiday, deny, defend, depose
Better wages or find other benefits to attract workers. Being able to advertise health insurance is cheaper than other options, and the coverage doesn’t even have to be great!
