You have a group of friends but you are not super close with any of them. Some are in the neighborhood and some from work. Over the years you have been invited to multiple home parties by various members of the group. You want to host a party at your home but are afraid that only a few people will actually show up. Have you ever held a party and you were embarassed because only a few people showed up?

I hosted a jam night where only one person besides my roommate and their partner showed up. We made the most of it anyway!

There was a boardgame night years ago at one of those game pubs where only four of us showed up. Despite not being a group that would normally hangout we were all friends enough and had a great time. Instead of boardgames we got cheap food and then cake and hot chocolate.

    Every friend starts a stranger.

I saw the title and thought it was about the fear of people coming to your home making a mess.

Yeah nah I’m not having a party at my home.

Years ago, despite me telling my wife that I don’t like my birthday, I don’t want presents, I don’t want a party, she tried to organize a surprise party.

Four people showed up. I was pissed off and got very drunk.

Looking back, I think this was part of realizing that we have to embrace getting older and more responsibility. No more ragers.
